4 Modules
Part 1 of 3: Ethical Approaches to Working with Trauma
This first module includes:
A. Review of the the ethical issues that are relevant to trauma work and key features of trauma informed approaches.
B. Discussion of how trauma impacts the brain and nervous system, including a review of PolyVagal Theory.
C. Delineation and demonstration of approaches to psycho-education about trauma and the brain.
D. Strategies for managing dysregulation including use of mindfulness, somatic grounding, attention to senses, etc.
Part 2 of 3: Ethical Approaches to Working with Trauma
This Second module includes:
1. Discussion of the central value of dual consciousness when it comes to processing trauma.
2. Review of mindfulness techniques such as RAIN
3. Clarification of the essential role of the relational alliance and specific strategies for building, maintaining, and using our relational alliance when processing emotions and working with trauma.
4. Description and guided exercises using the Flash Technique from EMDR and the Tapping protocol from Energy psychology.
5. Overview of IFS (Parts Therapy) theory and techniques and facilitation of guided exercise.
Part 3 of 3: Ethical Approaches to Working with Trauma
1. A recorded demonstration of the Loving Eyes exercise for accessing and soothing a traumatized part.
2. Overview of Narrative therapy which includes
a. techniques for externalizing,
b. examples of narrative letters to clients and letter writing campaigns,
c. 3 depictions of the narrative process
d. live demo of ways to shift a story of trauma and failure into one of positive values and strengths.
3. Review of vicarious trauma and relevant self-care strategies when it comes to ethical strategies for sustainable work with trauma.
